We have a strong focus on ensuring good working conditions and responsible business practices throughout the entire supply chain. Cubus has been part of Varner since 1989, which is one of the largest textile producers in the Nordic region. Varner has been working with ethical guidelines based on international standards since 2003.
The monitoring of working conditions is a comprehensive process, which includes both unannounced and announced inspections carried out by local sustainability specialists. These inspections ensure that the factories we cooperate with follow Varner's Code of Conduct, which is part of the supplier contract.
The inspections cover everything from checking safety equipment to working conditions and often include interviews with employees to attain a realistic overview of the situation. After the inspections, an improvement plan is developed and reviewed with the factory management. If the factory needs help with improvements, Varner can assist in certain areas. If a factory does not follow up on the improvement plan, the collaboration can be terminated, but this is a last resort.
Since 2021, Varner has published its own sustainability report, which describes how we work with people, materials, environment, and climate. In addition, you will find the status and progress of our sustainability goals. You can find the sustainability report here.
